EXPO 2020

Assitsant Director - The Soundtrack Sessions

During half- term I worked with year 10 students who attended a camp with the task of composing and recording a original piece of music for 'Hammour House' EXPO 2020, Dubai.

The Hammour is fish found in the waters of the Arabian Gulf and the brief given to the the students was to create a sound track that reflected the voyage of the fish through the waters of the Gulf.

The piece of music the student's created was showcased on February 26, 2022.

The students also performed live and improvised on the main themes of the piece.

The live set up for the piano students included running 2 macs with Logic Pro triggering sound samples and instruments from a keyboard controller.

Live instruments played by students included the violin, flute and saxaphone.

During the compostition process my job was to set up the session, record the students ideas and to advise on laying down sound effects and drones.

This is the main theme of the composition played by the saxaphone. The students added sea sounds and drones using synths from Logic Pro.
